On December 14, the launching ceremony of the Taiji Health Barcelona Center was held, organized by the Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, in collaboration with the Shanghai TCM Academy and the European TCM Foundation. The ceremony took place in person at the Center for International Cooperation of said University, and at the same time the authorities of the Chinese side, the representatives of the Spanish side, the director of the Department of Traditional, Complementary and Integrative Medicines participated online via ZOOM. WHO, Prof. Zhang Qi, and various professionals of Taiji, Qigong and Chinese Medicine, both from China and Spain.

First, the director of the Shanghai Qigong Academy Professor Li Jie briefly recounted the beginnings and the first phase of the collaboration between the European TCM Foundation and the Taiji Health Center of the Shanghai TCM University over the past two years. .

Next, the President of the Shanghai TCM University Prof. Xu Jianguang delivered in the cloud the plaque of the "Centro Taiji Salud Barcelona" to the Vice President of the FEMTC and also Vice President of the China Chair, Dr. Ramón María Calduch. This is the second Taiji Health Center that the University establishes in Europe, after the first Center inaugurated in Greece.

Dr. Calduch appreciated the contribution of the Shanghai Taiji Health Center, which, during the most acute phase of the pandemic, launched a series of traditional Chinese exercises in Chinese-English version online so that everyone could practice them, thus promoting strengthening. Of the health. Dr. Calduch also highlighted that the Taiji Salud Barcelona Center will be an important base for the dissemination of Taiji Salud both in Spain and in Latin American countries thanks to the existing collaboration between the FEMTC and more than 50 entities in Latin America dedicated to the Chinese medicine.
The ceremony was also attended by distinguished authorities such as Prof. Zhang Qi, Director of the WHO Department of Traditional, Complementary and Integrative Medicines, Mr. Hu Hongyi, Deputy Director of the Shanghai Municipal Administration of Chinese Medicine, and the Mr. Alfons Montserrat, member of the Catalan Health Commission and Member of Parliament.
In the second part of the ceremony, various professionals from Taiji, Qigong and Chinese medicine from France, Sweden, China and Spain shared experiences in the development of Taiji Salud. Dr. Carlos Llopis, Secretary General of the FEMTC made a presentation entitled "Reflection of the FEMTCi on the prevention and treatment of Covid-19 and the post-pandemic era." Finally, all participants practiced the Ba Duan Jin exercises by following Master Su Lei from the Shanghai Qigong Academy online.
The establishment of this Barcelona Taiji Health Center is especially significant, a few days before UNESCO declared Taiji Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity on December 17. This will help the Taiji Health Center of the Shanghai MTC University, with the collaboration of the FEMTC, to disseminate the concept and practice of Taiji Health for the benefit of the more than 600 million Spanish speakers around the world.
